Before any game in FIFA 17, you have the opportunity to change your team's setup. Especially in FUT 17 and in the "Pro Clubs" mode, it is important to find a favorable formation with which you can cope.

In the following we give you several tips and hints, which you can consider when choosing your teamwork. We are concentrating on FIFA 17 Ultimate Team.

Choose the right lineup/formation for your Ultimate Team

In order to build up a team in FUT 17, it is advantageous in theory if you decide in advance for a formation. Only then you can specifically buy players who fit this formation. To change your team's setup, go to "Active Team" and then press the Formation button, which is displayed at the top left of the screen. On the PS4, it is the L2 button.

What do I need to know about the formation?

Think in advance:

What is my play style? Take a look at the daddies and see how you play in FIFA 17. Do you often attack with the wings? Do you opt for dominant ball possession? Do you prefer countering?

What is the formation I am interested in? Before you decide directly on a formation for your Ultimate team, you should first experiment with different formations. Are you clear with a threesome chain? How many strikers do you want to play? After a few games, you will be able to determine whether or not you are interested in some formations. There will be formations with which you feel more secure than with others.

Which players do I want to play with? If you have your favorite player, which is absolutely necessary in your Ultimate Team, you can already choose a formation that fits these players. If your winger striker is wanted to in your team, you need a list which can be used by these players.

Note: Keep in mind that you can not only influence how the players behave on the pitch with the choice of the formation. During the game, you can use the arrow keys to select fast tactics such as counter or high pressure, or to set the direction more offensive or defensive. This allows you to react to your opponent's gameplay without having to throw up the entire line-up in the menu.

FIFA 17 Best Attack Formation to Score Lots of Goals

All players in games want the same thing: To score goals. Scoring is easier said than done, but you have a good chance of succeeding against your rivals if you follow the 4-3-3 Attack formation and blow tips.

1. Put your three best attackers up top  

2. Put your best goal scorer in the middle, and speedier guys with good passing ability like Dimitri Payet on the wings. 

3. Support them with a playmaking CAM who has a high work rate just below the middle striker.  

4. Put two CDMs belows the CAM. You want to wrest the ball away at the midfield as much as possible, which will let you hit hard on the counter. That will give you the initiative and lots of potential breakaways. 

5. In the instructions tab, set the following:  

  Left wing to Drift Wide/Get Behind

  Middle strike to Stay Central/Get Behind

  Both CDMs to "Aggressive Interceptions"

6. Set tactics to "Possession."  

7. Keep the ball on the ground and work it through the midfield when possible. Keep an eye on your attackers and wait for them to go on a run. They'll support each other nicely while spreading out the defense, and you can hit them with some good through passes. If you're lucky, the three attackers up top will spread out the defense enough that you will see some gaping holes. Don't get too greedy, though: Use conservative passes to retain possession as you work up your field. Try to turn over the ball as little as possible.

It’s hard to defend on FIFA 17 so use these formation tips to help you get better at defending and stop conceding as many goals. The formation 5-3-2 might be frowned upon by a lot of FIFA players and you may get some stick for it but, the truth is, it’s extremely useful, especially on FIFA 17.

1. Use this formation as well as pressing left on your direction pad to make your team defensive what this will do is force your wing backs to hold their position and will encourage your midfield 3 to drop in to defensive midfield positions also.
