FIFA 17 Ligue 1 Player Upgrades & Ratings Prediction: Di Maria/Ben Arfa/Boufal
After Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaving PSG to Manchester United, who will be the biggest name in Ligue 1 in future? Di Maria? Alexandre Lacazette? Or the new coming Ben Arfa? Everything will be clear in the next season. Now let's make a simple FIFA 17 upgrades and ratings prediction for the top players in Ligue 1.
Marco Verratti (PSG): 84 -> 85
2015/16 season was an injury-hit one for Marco Verratti, limiting the Italy international to just 18 Ligue 1 appearances. Only 11 of those 18 outings came as a member of the starting XI, so it is unsurprising that the 23-year-old only had three assists to his name.
Alexandre Lacazette (Olympique Lyon): 84 -> 85
Expectations were high off the back of a 27-goal campaign but injuries, poor form and general unhappiness meant that he only scored five times in the opening 15 games. however, Lacazette is back to his best – he’s plundered 11 goals in nine games, and last season was the first Frenchman to score 20+ goals in the league since 1998.
Angel Di Maria (PSG): 86 -> 88
What a fantastic debut season it was for Angel Di Maria in Paris. In Ligue 1 alone, Di Maria plundered 18 assists, and he also broke into double figures for goals with 10 to his name. El Fideo started 26 times out of the 29 appearances he made in Le Championnat and was a candidate for player of the year along with team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Hatem Ben Arfa (PSG): 81 -> 84
Welcome to PSG, Ben Arfa! Nice signed Hatem Ben Arfa last summer on a free and 10 months later, he took them to fourth in the table after an amazing campaign, scoring some outstanding goals (check the one against Saint-Etienne), showed off his wonderful skills and reminded everybody what he genius he was.
Wissam Ben Yedder (Toulouse FC): 78 -> 80
Ben Yedder hit 22 goals in 39 league and cup games for Toulouse last season. His strike against Angers on the last day of the season kept Toulouse in Ligue 1 and was his 63rd for the club, making him their record top-flight goal scorer.
Sofiane Boufal (LOSC Lille): 78 -> 80
Sofiane Boufal who scored 12 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions for Lille last term, as well as providing four assists. He is most comfortable playing out wide on either flank but can also operate effectively through the middle.
Layvin Kurzawa (PSG): 80 -> 81
Layvin Kurzawa’s maiden campaign in Paris has been far smoother than at Parc des Princes. Kurzawa made 19 appearances—17 of those as a starter—scoring four goals and providing five assists, more than his positional rival Maxwell in fewer games.
Rachid Ghezzal (Olympique Lyon): 70 -> 78
2015/16 season he made 29 league appearances for Lyon, scoring eight times and making eight assists, while also featuring in their Champions League campaign. He has been used on the right for the French club this season as they sealed second place in Ligue 1 to claim a Champions League place.
Cheikh N'Doye (Angers SCO): 76 -> 78
Voted as runner-up behind Lille’s Sofiane Boufal in Ligue 1’s award for the best African player, N’Doye’s progress last season has been outstanding. The powerful midfielder and Boufal were the key men behind Angers’ promotion last year but while the latter was snapped up, the former stayed in the Loire valley and was a key man in a brilliant start to the season that eventually saw the club finish ninth.
Maxwell (PSG): 79 -> 81
Veteran left-back Maxwell has been one of PSG’s most consistent performers last season. He made 28 appearances—24 of those from the start—and played a part in keeping 18 clean sheets, offered a threat going forward, and Les Parisiens’ No. 17 scored three goals and provided three assists this campaign.
Grzegorz Krychowiak (PSG): 82 -> 84
Krychowiak has improved tremendously, and he is now one of the best defensive midfielders in the game. After two excellent seasons in Spain that included winning the UEFA Europa League twice, the man from Gryfice added to his value with an impressive 2016 UEFA European Championship campaign with Poland, and that was enough to convince the Ligue 1 giants to bring him back to France.
